Sangha Stories
Mindfulness is a seed with an inherent power to transforms lives.
Sangha Stories is a loving initiative introducing mindfulness practice to children in local communities (sangha means “community” in Sanskrit). We have been offering Sangha Stories since 2019 in local community in Dubai (Business Bay area) as well as at schools (Clarion School in 2022-2023).
Sangha Stories are typically two-hour weekly sessions for children between the ages of 2 and 10 years lead by a mindfulness practitioner. Children get together, enjoy listening to wonderful stories from around the world, while learning about the art of mindfulness practice and playing fun games that include surprise gifts and wonderful treats:
The stories we share include masterpieces of literary prose (Kalila wa-Dimna by Ibn al-Muqaffa), classical literature (Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis), tales from Sufi and Zen masters (Idries Shah and Thich Nhat Hanh), and other tales with roots in ancient and medieval Arabic, Persian, Indian, Greek, Jewish, and Turkish folklore and literature, as well as modern tales, poems and even operas!
In our sessions, we practice mindful breathing, deep listening, and loving speech. We also embed into our sessions, teachings from Twelve Seeds to help foster true happiness.
The exciting games we play include animal cards and the children’s all time favorite: Treasure Box (surprise gifts & treats for children)!
We have been hosting Sangha Stories in Dubai since 2019. Our work offering includes community based group sessions, school based student sessions, corporate based group sessions for children as well as other customized group and private sessions.
